my first post.

finding your own space at 20.

I shared a room with my younger sister for 18 years before i was finally granted my own bedroom just before i turned 20. Now don’t get me wrong, sharing a room with your one and only sister isn’t the worst thing in the world but it isn’t great for your personal growth. Moving to a new house was exciting enough but getting to finally pick my own furniture was pretty amazing. For any normal teenager leaving high school, having their own room was just a normal part of life. It was a milestone in the many pool of rocks for me. I didn’t have to worry about what colour I could paint my wall without my sister and I yelling at each other for 10 minutes straight. I could change my room when I felt like it, moving around furniture without having to book it in as a weekend activity. It was freedom. Well and truly, peaceful.
